Wild Dog | Castaway | Where You Are
Where the Children Play
| Amakoologik

1. Wild Dog

A wild dog came scratching at my door
Took one look at him and knew I’d seen him before
He brushed past me and slowly walked around
Went to a corner and lay on the ground

The wild dog looked up at me and I heard him say
“I can tell in your eyes that you’ve lost your way
I’m here to show you what you got to do
Least you grow a wild dog in you (sung twice)

The wild dog came across and curled up at my feet
In the quiet of the room I could hear his heart beat
I knew with that sound that he’d set me free
All the hate and pain seemed to ooze out of me

Soon the wild dog got up and he walked to the door
He said, “I can see you don’t need me anymore
Light a candle for the anger that goes when I go
Fill your heart with love don’t let a wild dog grow” (sung twice)

2. Castaway

Castaway, castaway like driftwood lying in the sea
Castaway, I watch my spirit set me free
Castaway, like lightning flashing in the sky
Castaway, like colours bouncing off a wall
Castaway, like water running down a drain

CHORUS

Come on, walk in the Light now
“Did someone call out my name?”
The Light shines from you
“Did someone call out my name?”
Walk on, you’re in the Light now
“Did someone call out my name?”
The Light shines in you
“Did someone call out my name
 open my heart
 open my head?”

3. Where You Are

You stand there on the Earth
With your eyes in the sand
You stand there where you are
And you wish to understand
How the Earth knows your name
Why the Earth calls your name               where you are

CHORUS

You better know the place
“Know the place”

Yea, where you are, know the place
“Know the place”
Ah, where you are, know the place
“Know the place”
Where you are

You stand there in the night
With your eyes in the sky
You stand there where you are
And you wish to know why
Why the stars know your name
How the stars call your name                where you are

CHORUS

You stand there on the Earth
With your eyes across the sea
You stand there where you are
And you wish that you were free
Hear the Earth call your name
Hear the Earth call your name               where you are

CHORUS

4. Where the Children Play

I rode my pony through a troubled land, full of death and disease
Saw hatred there in every man, it cut me off at my knees
High on a hill I watched the valley on fire, the flames licked at my heart
I saw a nation in a burning tyre, the carnage tore it apart

CHORUS:

Someone tell me it’s a bad, bad dream
Wake me up from this ugly scene
I don’t wanna be here no more
It’s a nightmare I can’t ignore
Someone tell me there’s more than this
Tell me I’ve got the right to wish
Maybe there’s another way
Down where the children play

I met a man he had a heart of steel, with vacant eyes he stared
He’d been conditioned until all he could feel, was just how little he cared
I met another man and he lit the fuse, he had a wicked grin
He’d heard some voices on the evening news, he thought they’d chosen him

CHORUS

What good is all this talk if men still hate, and throw their words with spears?
Some think the talking has begun too late, others don’t talk for their fears
I ride my pony to the open sea, bow my head in shame
I see a nation kill itself to be free, and wonder whose to blame

5. Amakoologik

Step up, we got people on the street, with nowhere to go, with nothing to eat with nothing to show,
with only their love and a grace from above, keeping them going on
we got kids in pain, raised in a drain, sniffing cheap glue in a macabre worldview
of Heaven
“Why is there no more window-shopping in the evenings?”
this way for yuppies in boats and 4x4’s, popping champagne when the market soars
avarice and greed  fueling the need, keeping them going on
we got jetskis, cellphones, weekends at the summer home, holidays abroad, no one’s
ever bored in Heaven
“Does it matter who shares in the pain of the morning?”

CHORUS:
Aren’t you amazed, its so alive
every day, and every night
in every way..........amakoologik
I see it everywhere..........amakoologik

Step up, we got violence in the air, hijacking in the street, anger and despair in everyone you meet, polarization, marginalization, keeping it going on
we got rape for fun, kids with guns, pedophiles with sickly smiles
in Heaven
“Does anybody know who won the game?”
this way for bourgeois fears, the electric fence, “neighborhood watch”, middle-class defense
patrol car cruising, the fear of losing, keeping them going on
we got guard dogs, battlements, social testaments, sounding an alarm
that all’s not calm in Heaven
“Do you need any more sauce with your chicken?”

CHORUS

Step up, we got the African dream, renaissance, people on the move, post-Colonial dance
some with vision, pushing transition, to change what’s going on
we got cyberspace, Internet, search and find, disconnect, operate, calibrate
designate, liberate your Heaven
“Who are the people moving in upstairs?”
this way for the global village, Imperial thrust, economic warfare based on trust
sinister funding, organized plundering, keeping it going on
we got brand names, common sound, shared games, common ground, CNN, BBC
new-age tools to set you free in Heaven
“Is this the age of the dawning of whatever?”

CHORUS
