Aka: The Scallywags

Greg Georgiades
Since the ‘70’s with Neil Soloman, Greg Hadjiyorki Georgiades has carved a name for himself as a dazzling soloist and fine composer in groups like Fly By Night, The Passengers, Bazaar and others. His early interest in rock and fusion took a turn when he encountered the acoustic guitar and a passion and understanding of World music. Apart from playing with the AQ, he also fronts The Mutant Harmony Trio and Strings ‘n Skins (with tabla exponent Ashish Joshi), both of which groups have albums out on the Digital Cupboard label. Greg lives in Pretoria, Gauteng, but does a lot of session work in numerous studios in Johannesburg, as well as much performing throughout the country at festivals and clubs. Aka: El Flagrante.

Tony Cox
http://www.tonycox.co.za
Anthony Jeffrey Cox has been on the SA scene since the early to mid-‘70’s, consistently making great music. His technical ability is amazing to watch, and he often leaves audiences wondering just what the heck has hit them. His right hand is like a freight train. It starts and it goes and it goes. Tony has performed extensively with Steve Newman over the years, as well as a host of other notables like Errol Diaz, Carlo Mombelli and Barrie Van Zyl to name a few. His solo albums have all been released through Sheer Sound Records, with the last album Matabile Ants earning him the SA Music Award for “Instrumental Album Of The Year”. He is about to release a new album through Sheer called “China”.
Aka: Beau-gan-villia.

Steve Newman
Born Steven Jeffrey Roy Newman in Cape Town SA, Steve has written a history for himself that few can equal. A consummate instrumentalist who can uncannily pick out any tune you name, he has traveled and traversed the length and breadth of SA plying his magic and gathering a formidable following of loyal “Newman-ites” who turn out to see him time and again. His work with Tananas has brought him international recognition through their numerous appearances around the world on WOMAD and other festivals. He is constantly collaborating with someone or other in a fluid life that finally seems to be bringing him the accolades and deserved success that his talent has promised would come for so many years.
Aka: D ‘arc Canyon.
