History / History in the Making... the 2k's
With the formation in April 2000 (along with Steve Newman, Tony Cox and Greg Georgiades) of THE AQUARIAN QUARTET, Syd Kitchen has unfolded another chapter to his story. The “Live” album that has emerged from this association has done very well since its release in October 2000 through Digital Cupboard. The Aquarian Quartet have played the Grahamstown Festival (2000 & 2001), the Southern Cross Festival in 2001, the Hilton Festival (2001) and have crossed the country several times in the short time together.
Additionally, Syd has toured Gauteng and the Cape several times in the past year and a half, both solo, AMAKOOL and with others. He’s appeared at Splashy Fen 2000 and 2001, as well as the Oppikoppi Festival (2000 & 2001). There’s a new album out; ”Africa’s Not For Sissies”. There’s a tour to the Cape in January 2002 to look forward to. And let’s not forget that there’s a Doctorate to finish! Cheers.
