Collaboration
with GREIG COETZEE
JOHNNY BOSKAK IS FEELING FUNNY
The collaboration between SYD KITCHEN and acclaimed actor/writer/director GREIG COETZEE in the creation of “Johnny Boskak is feeling funny” comes to fruition in May 2005 when the play opens for a month run at the Liberty Life Theatre on the Square in Sandton, Johannesburg.
SYD will be appearing live on stage every evening musically interacting with GREIG’s unbridled deliverance. After initially supposing that pre-recorded music might suffice, it was eventually decided that live interaction between the two would be the way to go. This allows for more spontaneity and improvisation between the music and the libretto. SYD uses guitars, mandolin, hospipe flute and double reeded Afghan flute in the show.
> GREIG COETZEE is undoubtedly one of South Africa’s most acclaimed, exiciting young actors. His incisive commentary on the world we live in has earned him a reputation way beyond the shores of his mother land. Juxtapose this with SYD KITCHEN’s eclectic, Umbilonian, Afro-Saxon musical approach and sensibility and you arrive at “Johnny Boskak is feeling funny”. Look out for the album.
